Default Honda water pump discontinued part

Broke my impeller on my Honda WT30 water pump. The part--# 78106-YB2-003 is discontinued from Honda. Looking for a Honda Powersports dealer somewhere who might have one laying around.I might be able to weld it as it broke clean in half but being it's cast, I'd rather not take the chance with the imbalance that's going to create a later problem. Any leads would be appreciated.

    After market.
Is there any chance there's a manufacturer of the pump on the pump cast into it.
Did you try flea bay for the part?
Also try your not so local Honda shop. As in the small engine repair.

Will call your guy manana. THX

Don't forget to get a shim kit. And put it back into spec's
And do a vacuum test on it. After you get the new parts in. On a Wacker PT3 its 28# of draw. +/- 3# on the suction side. Your honda should be similar.

Well, after a year, still can't find part #78106-YB2-003 anywhere on the planet. When I took off the old busted impeller, there was so much rust on the threads of the shaft that it busted in app.7 pieces so my welding idea is kaput. A dealer in Alberta, Canada had 2, boss told the parts mgr.to throw out all discontinued Honda parts, so he did 2 years ago.Somebody, somewhere has to have one.I did get the shim kit though from Alberta.

You must have a second job at Honda Corporate there Dave. That's EXACTLY what they told me, also probably why they discontinued my impeller. But that's not going to happen, I have a second string Honda pump and I am determined to see this bad boy pump again.

No, they probably ran out of exsisting inventory and its not cost effective to produce another production run of a low volume part. Remember they have to calculate tier distribution profits, tooling changes, tax, packaging, transportation, and warehousing. They also probably take lost revenue from the nonproduction of faster moving, more profitable items they could have on that production schedule. If a small run production part ends up costing the customer $100 but you can buy an updated, repairable complete new unit for $102, What'ca gonna do?

I'm sure Mike doesn't stock an oil filter for a 79 dodge Omni (unless it fits something else a lot more popular) and when he calls Western Auto for the part the local store probably has to order it from the warehouse, who has it shipped shipped from a third party supplier, possiblely considering the few that survived past the 80s it might not have a part number available and he's forced to research a crossover.

Your theory sounds perfectly plausible Basher except you're missing one important fact, that being Honda still makes the WT30 pump but they changed the design of the impeller and related parts. Why? Well, here's the thing, my old WT30C pumps at app.340 GPM.A new WT30XC pumps at 340GPM. So, what did Honda gain here? Nothing, nada, it's simply corporate greed--change a perfectly good design, discontinue the part so that Joe Consumer has to buy this newest version.Yes, I'm ranting, sorry, but I'm pissed.
