Kinda late now but I meant to comment the Deere 244 not only articulates for steering, the rear tires steer as well. I don't know how mulch difference that makes on the published turn radius. Your pictures show it clearly.

I'm sure you'll be pleased with the Case, put plenty of whacker lights on it.

Thanks guys, yep I'm pretty stoked on this. It's a big step for sure.

Napper I was aware of the JD steering. I considered it. Hard choices. I felt like this sometimes while trying to decide >>>

That's a good problem to have Steve. That means the products were pretty evenly matched and reasonably close pricing. You didn't fall for brand blinders and made your final decision based on the objective specs.

what are the objective specs of the Western that make it better than Arctic, Boss, Curtis, Meyer, Snoway?

Drive both on the road, find a hill somewhat if you can. The Terex backhoe I drove was lazy as heck and that transponds into poor snow pushing. The Deere got up and going like it should. I know 18k is a lot of money but I'm pretty sure the Deere or Cat is going to be worth that much more when you sell. I'm going through the same process right now buying a new salt truck. The Peterbilt is 20k more then a Hino but dealer service and the fact I'll run the truck for the next 15 years the 20k is a mute point. I should buy a used truck but this is the truck I'll drive and I want something very comfortable.

Thanks, yes I think it will be a good machine. The salesman was much better than the others also, he really knew his stuff, and that gave me confidence in them for future service if needed.

Couldn't be happier with this machine after the first week. With the 4x1 bucket I can clamp on tree stumps up to about 4-5" diameter and just rip them out of the ground. With a little push I can get stumps out up to 6" with not to much effort. Anything bigger than that I had to dig the roots out first. Pretty impressive.

Was as happily surprised that it does 23mph on flat ground, and 20 up a moderate hill. Verified with gps phone app. :)

Who needs a gooseneck? I was legal! I'm registered for 26k and I wasn't over any axle weights. Might of been about 500 lbs over on my hitch weight but not bad.
That's a 16' 14k trailer, it didn't fit real well, had to put the attachments in the bed of the truck. I'm gonna scale it on my 24' 14k trailer and see if I can make it work. Will be very close.

The 4x1 bucket is awesome. If you haven't seen one I can take a couple pictures for you. The bottom opens like a clam, and you can use it as a grapple or a dozer blade.

Wasn't concerned about legal but I'm surprised you're registered so low. Just figured you'd run the goose for smooth towing. I would imagine the additional curb weight of the 24 footer vs the 16 is going to chew up the 800# you have left.

Love to see a couple pics of the bucket. Can you put a grapple on it? How many extra hydraulic channels does it have on the boom besides bucket tilt?

I would definitely be over registered weight with the GN trailer and this load. It only has 14k of axles also, and would of likely been over on those too unless I got enough on the truck. I'm sure it would tow nicer though. I only registered for 26k because anything over that I have to deal with fuel and miles by state tracking for IFTA. I do that already for the semi, didn't want to do it for this that is also a daily driver so often. Eventually I'll bite the bullet and do it.

I did just buy a GN dump trailer with 3x 7k axles under it. That will be really nice to haul this loader with, but again over registered weight. I am getting the semi wired to pull it and run the electric brakes... If I have to pull it outside of my little neighborhood that's likely what I'll use.

Here you go Palmer. It opens up farther also, and you can use the back like a dozer when pushing. You can also use it like a cheese slicer on dirt when backing up. Pretty slick.

    Nice Machine Steve!

We're looking at getting a loader around that size too for our yard.

Pretty slick Steve. When you say cheese slicer you mean you could peel up sod? Nice.

That machine looks a lot like the new Kubota's. Are they made in the same plant do you know?
