Thread: My skid steer tank is full of #2 diesel

Default My skid steer tank is full of #2 diesel

Do you drain it out or just add a bunch of anti-gel? Temps are supposed to be in the single digits.

(I'm upset at myself for just thinking about this now. I filled the loader up with blended diesel last month but I completely spaced the skid...and it's full!)

Just add the additive to the skid loader, move it around some so it mixes and then let it idle for 10 minutes. It will all be good. That or just follow Scooty's advice and don't worry about it, it won't gel

Just put Power Service additive in it. You should be fine.

An even better suggestion for mixing the additive with the fuel is rolling the skid steer onto its roof once or twice.

I like the Power Service, I keep plenty in the semi all winter. I have shelf full of Diesel 911 also since it was on sale a few weeks ago.

Is there any room to add some #1?

Im thinking waves would be the perfect motion to blend the fuel and additive....

No, he was mocking me for my skid loader abilities. He doesn't put them on their lids, he try's to float them.

I gotta side with Bard on this one, it takes some serious "cahones" to flip a SSS over sideways, it takes some very bad judgement to take a $50,000 water fountain into a pond, and drive the SS into water over your chest................

Roy, just run about double the dosage of what the bottle tells you. Personally, I prefer the Howe's over the PS, and spare the 911 for an actual emergency, as it's loaded with alcohol, which is rough on a small diesel engine...........

You shouldn't get a product that has alcohol in it any where near a diesel, big or small.

I'm happy with power service products. I've been using white bottle for my wife's VW Beetle with 1.9 TDI for the last 5 or 6 years. Before that, it would gelled up even with full diesel #1 which piss me off. We live in the country about 20-22 miles from Fargo-Moorhead area. So now, pour 1/3 of 16 oz bottle in every tank fill and didn't gelled up once ever since we started using it. We only used it during every winter season. My wife's car got over 240K miles on it and still runs like new.

Power service Disperses water in diesel fuel=bad
the msds lists pail oil, aka ipa.

Howes diesel treat demulsifies water out of the fuel=better.

With Howes as the vehicle moves and agitates, water is easily removed by the water separator. Products that emulsify or disperse water into the fuel like power service are usually alcohol or solvent based and can further damage key system components by allowing water to pass through the fuel water separator. Since water is abrasive, it tends to score or wear down the close metal to metal tolerance of the injection system

Fortunately you haven't had much water in your fuel for it to pass by your fuel water separator.

We actually only fill our tractors half full when we take them to sit onsite since it's generally around the 10th of Nov. I want to make sure we have 100% winter fuel before we top them off. They're all still sitting half full and we do have winter blend now but just havn't filled them up. We had so many problems 10 years ago when our first plow came in Jan and the temp plummetted to 0 F. Out of 10 tractors only 3 started and would stay running. The worse night of my life. A helpfull hint. Always change fuel and hydraulic filters every fall before the snow season starts. Also keep spare filters on hand.

At Letsplow it's frowned upon to talk to other members with disrespect. Plus most members here have used their skid as a pontoon or have entered them in a roll over contest. eyes:

Uh oh, does that mean I will be losing my post count just like at another forum, recently?

PS Is it really disrespectful to refer to a member this way who wears a cheese wheel?

I didn't realize you were on another forum, you must use another screen name. I guess we can make an exception to the rule for Cheeseheads, more then likely they won't realize they're being made fun of anyways.
